Sundown Craft is run by Elizabeth Parker (Lizzy) in West Yorkshire. I wanted to tell you a little bit more about me and what I do...

Maybe a little bit of a crazy cat lady, child of the 90's, who enjoys collecting tattoos, hag stones, curiosities, skulls and antiques.

Everything in the shop is made from 100% recycled sterling silver or 9ct gold, handmade or sand cast by me in my studio. Sterling silver is a metal that is less reactive to most skin types making it safe to wear, it's a durable and more affordable precious metal that I've always been drawn to and use most. Gold is hypoallergenic and non-irratating like silver, I'm starting to introduce more designs in 9ct gold. Personally I enjoy mixing silver and gold jewellery that I wear everyday. Heavier silver pieces are always sent off for hallmarking with the Sheffield Assay Office where I am registered, all gold pieces are fully hallmarked. My maker's mark is the initials for Sundown Craft 'SC' in a back to back crescent moon shape and the Sheffield Assay Office mark is a Rose.

I started my journey into metalsmithing in 2019 with an evening ring making workshop and have been teaching myself ever since. I used to work as an embroiderer/seamstress and would craft away experimenting on jewellery techniques during the evening, slowly building my skills and incorporating all my passions into this small business. I now work as a precious metals assistant working with antique and vintage gold jewellery alongside running Sundown Craft. I feel very lucky to always work surrounded by jewellery and hope to keep building my skills. Sundown Craft pieces will always be made inhouse by myself as it brings me so much joy, each piece is lovingly made. Jewellery holds a lot of meaning for me and being able to combine things I love into talismans for people to treasure and pass down is magical.

My work is inspired a lot by Ancient Britain, its folklore and found relics of the past, using metal detecting and mudlarking finds. I've always had an interest in history and the occult, a fascination with the ancient sites around the country connecting us to our old pagan ways. I grew up in the Midlands countryside enjoying nature and rural folklore traditions, holidaying in Scotland's wilderness and exploring old ruins. My father-in-law introduced me to metal detecting, seeing his finds and holding pieces of history he discovered amazed me. I love collecting found things to cast into jewellery, one of a kind treasures from the past made wearable. Sundown Craft is the creative outlet for my interests and I hope what I make connects to others, thank you for getting to know me a bit more.
